The Sui ecosystem has recently garnered attention from the community due to its positive growth. Alongside DeFi protocols, the GameFi sector has also seen the emergence of new projects, with the pet-raising game PetPals being a prime example.
What is PetPals?
PetPals is a Telegram game on the Sui network with a pet-raising theme. In PetPals, players take on the role of adventurers, embarking on a journey to hunt for and nurture adorable pets to earn PPS tokens (the utility token of PetPals).
PetPals is designed with a Play-to-Earn mechanism. The goal of the game, operating as a Telegram mini-app, is to reach users in both Web2 and Web3, allowing players to both entertain themselves and earn rewards, thereby building a vibrant gaming community.
Highlights of the PetPals Game
In the context of Telegram mini-app games becoming saturated and failing to generate much value for participants, PetPals has attracted community attention thanks to the following points:
- Play-to-Earn Mechanism: Unlike other games where players accumulate points for a chance to receive an airdrop, rewards in PetPals can be exchanged for the project’s PPS token. Currently, PPS tokens can be used to buy and sell in-game items or traded on DEXs.
- Clear Gameplay: Instead of simply applying a basic Tap-to-Earn or Click-to-Earn gameplay style, PetPals’ gameplay design is more complex with a flexible quest system. This approach encourages players to participate regularly and motivates long-term engagement.
- Automatic Web3 Wallet Creation: When joining PetPals, the game automatically creates a Web3 wallet, including a wallet address, seed phrase, and private key for the player. The player’s responsibility is to store the seed phrase/private key securely. The purpose of this mechanism is to ensure the safety of participants, allowing them to own independent accounts that are not reliant on third-party platforms like Telegram.
At the time of writing, PetPals has been launched for nearly two months and has a recorded market cap of nearly $700,000, according to data from dexscreener.
PetPals Genesis Eggs NFT Collection
Genesis Eggs is an NFT collection representing pet eggs in the game. Genesis Eggs are divided into four types, corresponding to their rarity: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. The rate at which PPS tokens are earned depends on the egg’s rarity classification.
The Genesis Eggs collection plays a core role in the game’s gameplay loop, allowing players to use them for the following activities:
- Hatching eggs to obtain pets.
- Listing and trading on NFT marketplaces to earn profits. Currently, two marketplaces support this: TradePort and BlueMove
How to Play the PetPals Telegram Game
As mentioned, the player’s task in PetPals is to hatch eggs to obtain pets. Then, players raise their pets to earn PPS tokens. Specifically, playing PetPals involves the following activities:
- Collecting eggs to hatch pets
- Caring for pets
- Completing game quests
- Inviting friends to join to accumulate more rewards
Here’s the process for playing PetPals:
Step 1: Access PetPals and select “Start” to begin playing.
Step 2: Select “Create Account” to create an account in the game. If you already have an account, select “Login” to log in to PetPals.
Note: For the account creation step, players need to store their seed phrase and private key securely to minimize any potential risks.
Step 3: Collect eggs to play the game. Since the game requires players to own eggs to play, there are three ways to collect them:
- Purchase a Genesis Egg NFT from NFT marketplaces.
- Open a mystery box in the game to receive eggs with random rarity.
- Buy eggs from the Global Eggs market within the app. Most of the eggs sold here are priced under 20 SUI.
Regardless of the method chosen, players need to have SUI tokens to make a purchase, ranging from 1 to 20 SUI (approximately $4 to $80).
Step 4: After collecting eggs, select the feature with the “+” symbol to hatch them.
Step 5: After the eggs hatch into pets, players need to nurture and care for them daily through the following activities:
- Feeding
- Cleaning
- Playing with them
Step 6: Select the “Task” feature in the top right corner of the screen and complete the tasks provided by the platform. Most of these tasks are related to social media activities, such as:
- Following the PetPals Telegram channel
- Following the PetPals X (formerly Twitter) account
- Joining the PetPals Discord server
Step 7: Invite friends to join using the “Friends” feature in the “Task” section to earn more points. These points can later be converted into PPS tokens. The conversion rate depends on the rarity of the egg, but players who own a Genesis Egg NFT will receive a higher conversion rate.
Note: Only when invited friends hatch an egg will the inviter earn rewards.

Some Notes When Playing PetPals
To optimize PPS token earnings, players can pay attention to the following information:
- Free items: In the early stages, players will receive 16 free items per day to care for their pets. However, these items can only be used for pets at levels 1-3. Once the pet exceeds this level, players will no longer be able to use these items.
- Pet lifecycle: The maximum lifespan of a pet is limited to level 10. Also, if players forget and do not care for their pet for 2 consecutive days, the pet will die. In this case, there are two possible scenarios:
- If the pet hatched from a Genesis Egg NFT, it has a revival feature. This means that if the pet disappears upon reaching level 10 or dies due to lack of care, players can revive it in the form of an egg. The revival fee is paid in SUI tokens.
- If the pet hatched from a regular egg, it will disappear permanently.
- Activate Auto-Care: PetPals offers an Auto-Care feature that allows the system to automatically care for pets on behalf of the player. To ensure the feature works seamlessly, players must ensure that they have enough pet care items in their inventory. The fee for the Auto-Care feature is 5 SUI tokens. When a pet dies or is revived, the Auto-Care feature will disappear and needs to be reactivated using SUI.
- Pet breeding: When a pet reaches level 6, players can combine its genes with those of other species to create new generations. The rarity of the offspring depends on the rarity of its parents. This feature can only be activated for pets hatched from Genesis Egg NFTs.
In summary, pets from Genesis Egg NFTs have three features: revival, automated care from Auto-Care, and breeding new species. For pets from regular eggs, players can only use Auto-Care.
